This short 4-day Adrar Region tour takes you from Nouakchott into the beautiful desert of Mauritania. We pick you up at the airport and lead you to green oases like Terjit, with palm trees, fresh water and cool shade. You will stop at Mherith for lunch, see old rock paintings and the old Fort Sagana, and reach the historic town of Chinguetti as the sun goes down.
You will spend a day walking around Chinguetti, an ancient caravan town with very old books and one of Africa’s oldest mosques. Then you travel past the small desert oasis Tenouchert for tea with people who live there, and on to Ouadane, a quiet hill town. You will also see the Guelb Richat, the great circular pattern called the “Eye of the Sahara.” On the last day you drive back to Nouakchott and the tour ends.
