Founded in the 6th century AH (twelfth century AD) by the great scholar Abdel Mumin, Tichitt is the least known of the ancient cities. It retains one of the finest architecture of its houses with Tagant with dry stone walls; pierced with niches with geometric patterns the most beautiful effect. It is justly to one of the most beautiful medieval cities of North-West Africa. The stones used in its construction offer a range of colors which the decorative effect gives the whole a unique glow.
